Understanding the Communion under the New Covenant

I want you to follow me with great attention as I open some deep things up about the word Communion and its application from the beginning till today. That is considering this topic from the first time of t=its occurrence and up to how we have been involving in it till today.

What is communion?

The dictionary defines it as the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially on a mental or spiritual level. On the other hand, it is also defined as the service of Christian worship at which bread and wine are consecrated and shared. I have a big issue with the second definition or explanation because it is now limited to Christian alone. Is it that family don’t have communion or other religion?  That means Christians are a major player in the dictionary production.

I agree with the first one…. grammatically the second cannot be generally acceptable or generally used when defining the word communion most especially for non-Christians. The word that is generally sued like communion should not be defined by a Christian service looking at its first definition and considering its wide usage.

Cambridge dictionary put it this way “a close relationship with someone in which feelings and thoughts are exchanged” I love that. A friendly relationship marked by ready communication and mutual understanding,

Here are the synonyms of communion – Synonyms of communion: fellowship, rapport, and rapprochement. The following are words related to the word communion: Accord, agreement, concord, harmony, oneness, solidarity, togetherness, unity, affinity, sympathy, understanding, amity, chumminess, companionship, friendliness, friendship, reciprocity, and symbiosis

Near Antonyms of communion are as follows: Alienation, disaffection, disgruntlement, estrangement, coldness, cold shoulder, distance, iciness, animosity, antagonism, antipathy, bitterness, enmity, hostility, jaundice, rancor, spite

Looking at the details above it will tell you that the word communion to be defined by a service where bread and drink are sheared to remember Christ is questionable! Will it be called a communion if we have an occasion in the church or our Sunday fellowship and we share food and drinks among ourselves and our friends as we do on special events in most churches? Is that a communion too? That will help us get closer to the definition of communion.

Now you should be able to agree with me that the use of the word communion as what we eat and drink must be checked again and again to affirm the right usage. We don’t eat communion but partake or be in communion. Please follow me kingly as we move step by step to unfold the detail about this subject of Communion. For the fact that the high and the mighty or the majority are engaging in a matter does not make it automatically right, we must define it based on the fact and documents to establish the truth. For example for the fact that the majority of people are engaging in bribery and corruption including the leaders that are known and popular does not make bribery and corruption right.

Did Jesus eat or talked about Communion?

Here is a question that will take us deeper into the understanding of Communion as a subject. Did Jesus eat or talked about Communion while on the earth? The answer is No! No word like communion exist until the time Apostle Paul mentioned the word Communion while talking and correcting the errors of the Corinthians church- 1 Corinthians 10:15-17. We shall come back to that very shortly.

Was it communion Jesus ate…? Let us now read from the scripture…Matthew 26:17-29 (KJV)  Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the Passover?

And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, my time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at thy house with my disciples.

And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them, and they made ready the Passover.

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

And they were exceeding sorrowful and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

And he answered and said, He that dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It had been good for that man if he had not been born.

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

From that scripture above it was clear that what Jesus ate was a feast! It was a yearly event. And everyone born as an Israelite must eat it. It is a law. It is spiritual worship. And don’t forget it is once in a year. Meaning Jesus must have eaten it severally as he was growing up.

Someone said it is the Lord’s Supper Jesus took… That cannot be assumed. The word of God said he was set to eat the Passover. We have just read it now. Three people gave the account of the feast of Passover ate by Jesus with His disciples a day before he was arrested to be killed and none of them mentioned the word Lord Supper or the communion they Said it was a feast of Passover. – Other accounts are Mark 14: and Luke 22:

The Passover

Let us understand the detail of the word Passover now. How did it all begin, and what was the Lord interested in when he commanded them to observe this as a feast?

Exodus 12:11-17 (KJV) And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S Passover.

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt.

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial, and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

And in the first day, there shall be a holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever.

That was the genesis of the feast of Passover. It is one of the systems under the Mosaic Law or system. Do not forget that we are no more under that system today. We are now under the new covenant that is defined by the grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. – John 1:16-17 / Romans 10:4 / Hebrews 8:1-13, 2 Corinthians 3:1-end.

Passover was a remembrance of how the Lord with mighty hands through Moses brought the fathers out the land of Egypt. Period. Ok! Every time they eat it in a year it was to remember Egypt, Pharaoh, the death of the firstborn of Egyptians, the Lamp that was killed that night and how the blood of the lamb was sprayed or painted on the lintel of the Israelites houses and how the angel of destruction could not enter into the houses of the Israelites but only the houses of the Egyptians and killed all their firstborn with how Pharaoh released them to go in haste and the got the freedom from the slavery and bondage of Egyptians. Actually it was a feast. It worth celebrating. After 430 years of life in a strange land with hard labor and finally, they were out and with great assets and wealth.

Jesus Is Our Passover

Under the New Covenant, we are not bound by what the fathers ate as Passover. No! We were not delivered by the same system. We are not remembering Egypt today. No! We are not celebrating the feast of Lamb (goat) that was killed for the deliverance of people or Israelites from the land of Egypt. No! We are saved by the Lamb of God (Christ Jesus) that is who we celebrate today and therefore our pattern of Passover can never be the same with theirs.

Jesus is our Passover – Purge out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ, our Passover is sacrificed for us: – 1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV).  Jesus ate Passover even though he also is a Passover that was sent by God to replace the former Passover.

Because Jesus was born under the law he has no option but to eat what he knew was going to end by him.  Passover was a thing under the Law and he came to end the Law – For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. – Romans 10:4.

Actually Jesus came to end the system Moses Built and rebuild a better system – 2 Corinthians 3:13-16.- And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remained the same vail untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

16 Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

Are we still together in this teaching. Follow me kingly I don’t want you to be lost in understanding, Great! Jesus could not have objected the eating of the Passover by himself or for the disciples that are following him because it will be dangerous to do so and as much as he was born under the Law the choice is limited. Galatians 4:4-5 (KJV) But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Yes! Jesus himself “the Passover” are the Passover because it was not time to reveal the truth or the true identity. If he did he may be killed and would not be able to finish the work of salvation – Hebrews 10:28 recorded it that “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:”

Wow! The Passover himself ate Passover… 1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) Purge out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

Passover is a feast of the lamb. And that was why lamb was the only sacrifice that can take away sin. Leviticus 16:11

And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

Leviticus 16:16- And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation that remained among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

Leviticus 16:27 – And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.

Leviticus 16:30 – For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

Leviticus 16:34 – And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

But all those offerings of blood does not please God. It did not remove their sins. Hebrews 9:13-14 (KJV) – For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh:

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

John had this understanding said when he saw Jesus coming to be baptized…John 1:29 (KJV) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus is the Lamb of God. What the lamb of Moses and Aaron could not do to offer complete salvation…the Lamb of God was here than to do it and He perfected it. Today we are the beneficiary of it all. Halleluyah! Glory to Jesus the then Lamb of God. Hebrews 9:12 (KJV) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The Last Passover Feast

The Last Passover eaten by Jesus was very different. And that was where the confusion of eating communion began from. While Jesus was eating the last Passover with the disciples he said to them …..”do this in remembrance of me” that is the major issue here that we have miss understood and that made us be drinking juice as the blood of Jesus and biscuit of wheat or sacrament as the flesh of Jesus… Let us define that statement to see what was in the mind f Jesus Christ.

Jesus Spoke in Parables

It will good at this junction to let you know that Jesus was a master of parables when he was on the earth doing His ministry and that was to fulfill what was written concerning Him that ho pattern of speech with be parable type – Mathew 13:34-35 – All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. (KJV).

That means so many words of Jesus that looks like it is direct or very simple needs the understanding of God to get the right meaning as it is in His mind as at the time He spoke. No wonder Jesus said he would no more want to say anything anymore though there are many things to say. Why? He said they will not understand him, why? He speaks in Parables. John 16:7-15.

Haven know that Jesus spoke many things in Parables then let us look into the accounts or writing of the three apostles that were on the table with Jesus that same night.

An account of Mathew (The Gospel according to St’ Mathew)

Mathew 26:26-30 (KJV) – And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives.

An account of Mark (The Gospel according to St’ Mark)

Luke 14:22-26 (KJV) – 22 – And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24 And he said unto them, this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many.

25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives.

An account of Luke (The Gospel according to St’ Luke)

Luke 22:14-20 (KJV) And when the hour has come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

And he said unto them, With the desire, I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer:

For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Likewise, also the cup after supper, saying this cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Now let us establish a fact that each writer of the account of this Passover event wrote differently… It will be good for us to know that only Luke recorded the statement “do this in my remembrance” – Luke 22: 15-22.  Mathew and Mark in their own account as a participant of that last Passover evening did not hear that statement or did not record that statement in their writings. Mathew 26:26-29, Mark 14:21-25.

Apostle Paul’s Account

Apostle Paul mentioned the same statement. “Do this in remembrance of me” But was He on the table that night? No! He recorded that in His words because he read from the account of St’ Luke – 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brakes it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. {In…: or, for a remembrance}

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

And he added some other things to it for more clarity from 26-30 – 26 – For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he comes.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. {Damnation: or, judgment}

30 For this cause, many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep…

He was telling the people of Corinth that this thing you partake of anyhow is not meant to be treated as such… It can kill anyways let us leave that aside.

Let us agree that Luke was right ok. But then let us try by the understanding of the event and the mission of Jesus Christ as I have explained since the beginning of this teaching to define the mind of Christ when he said: “do this in remembrance of me”. Let us analyze the statement based on the events and the whole words spoken on the menu table that night. By doing so we will be able to know the implication of that statement and then apply it without error.

Do not err my People

Jesus warned us to study so that we will not engage the word of God wrongly – Mt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. He emphasized that the reason we go into error is that we do not know the word of God. What you did not know you can never understand it.

Paul said we have to study to rightfully engage the word of God – 2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

James said we should do everything possible not to err… James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. We are in the days God is showing light and the light is coming from people that are not common and too much known… it means a lot will ignore because they value the person who speaks the word of God than the word of God that is being spoken., I hope you will not be one of such people.

Do this in remembrance of me

Jesus, before that statement “do this in remembrance of me” according to the gospel of St’ Luke in 22:15-22. I focused on the gospel according to Luke because he was the reporter of that statement. Jesus broke the bread and gave to them and made a statement that “this is my flesh that was broken for you”… Likewise, he took the cup and gave to them to drink with the additional statement that he has never made all the times they have eaten this meal together….that “this is a new testament in my blood that was shed for you”….he added as often as you do this do it in remembrance of me.

Why now? This was not the first time they are eating this meal together. That explained a lot of things we must carefully examine. Now Jesus was able to tell them the basic truth about the New Covenant Passover to correct the errors of the past or wrong identity for three years they have been with him doing it the wrong way every time they eat this meal. He has to correct it for two reasons…

First, it was his last time to eat it with them. That was the time to give them the last word on the Passover table. Because the next day he knew he will be arrested and sentenced to death. Now the second reason was that they are the one that will correct others…

What was the correction…? Passover was about a lamb that was killed in Egypt and the salvations of the fathers from Egypt. But God used that as a shadow of things to come. I will come back to that later. But at the same time, Jesus was also a Passover……1 Corinthians 5:7. John said he is a Lamb of God that will save the world not only a number of Israelites like the lamb of Moses in Egypt or that of Aaron in the temple.

Meaning the lamb they have been remembering was a shadow…now they must change their object of remembrance from goat to Jesus….hence it applies that  …” do this in remembrance of me” was not a command for them to be eating goat or drink juice or wine No! It means they have to stop remembering Egypt when you are eating this Passover. I am the Lamb. That lam that was killed was a shadow me to be killed for you all to be saved. I mean eternal salvation, not like that which happened in Egypt.

Indirectly Jesus was telling them we have done this to fulfill the law but now that the time for the New Covenant establishment is here this is no more necessary again. Jesus was telling them He is the Passover no more a feast! He is the one to eat not bread, it is his blood we have to drink not wine or juice. It is not more the flesh of goat you will be eating it is my flesh and not of the wine that represents the blood of goat it is my own blood because I have come to establish a covenant that is better than that one made in Egypt. Are you following me? So Jesus wants them to change their object they do remember every time they eat this feast.

The Old Covenant

I believe you will agree with me that the coming of Jesus was to establish the new covenant over the Old Covenant. Hebrews 8:7-8 – 7 – For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Vrs 13 – says – In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Can you see that now? The coming of Jesus was to establish the New Covenant over the Old covenant. Which was the Old covenant and when was it established? Come with me in Hebrews 8:7-9 – 7- For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

The Old Covenant was established with the Passover. It was when God was bringing the fathers of the Israelites out of the land of Egypt that he established the Old covenant and it was with the blood of the goat (Lamb). This will established the fact that it can never be the will of God that the eating and drinking of anything continues after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Shadow of the Truth (Real)

Most of the major events that happened during the time of Moses were all shadows of the real things to come through Jesus. Never forget that Jesus is the way, the truth as well no other person – John 14:6. All that happened as an event in the Old Testaments through the leaders from Moses to the Kings and the prophets were all shadows of the real and were a temporary measure while God was taking his time to send Jesus to complete the work of deliverance for mankind.

Hebrews 8:4-9 (KJV) – For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

Hebrews 10:1- For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

The Law there means events from the time of Moses through to the last prophet who was John the Baptist. What I am trying to proof from the above scriptures is the fact that the events at the time of Moses that were celebrated and take as worship by the Israelites were shadows of the real things to come…

No wonder Apostle Paul said – Colossians 2:8, 16-18 (KJV) – Beware lest any man spoils you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Let no man, therefore, judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

I love that statement shadow of things to come as used in verse 16 above. Following the events that happened in the time of Moses and Aaron is following Shadows….we must be very careful about that. Even Jesus confirmed this – John 3:14-15 (KJV) – And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so, must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Can you imagine that Jesus knew he was trying to knock out the shadow in the Passover thing for the reality to take place…..?

The statement “do this in remembrance of me” was not meant for us the new covenant Believers why? We now know better. They cannot stop eating that feast then and Jesus could not tell them to stop eating it… Why? When you go against the law of Moses you are killed – Hebrews 10:28 (KJV) – He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

The best they can do at that time was to eat with the right understanding….so that with time it will fade out and die a natural death. When the truth will have been preached and people get the truth about the Passover feast. Actually, with time, it faded out and we never heard about it again after the experience in 1 Corinthians 11. Until the Roman Catholic fathers brought it up again. And the Christian world took it just like that and eating or practicing it.

Listen to me…We do not need to eat anything before we remember Jesus or what he did for us on the cross… That will be a low level of life, faith, and love. It will be an insult and a low level of reasoning. It is what should be part of our daily lives, in fact, every second and the minute we should be remembering him.

So what happened on every other day you did not eat or drink that so-called communion does that mean you don’t remember what Christ did?  Not to talk of the highest level of ignorance when people now turn it to idol… Taking communion for healing, deliverance, etc…Please, where did you find that in the word of God or in the history of the bible? That must be Pentecostal radicalism and razzmatazz. Because even the Roman Catholic fathers that introduced it back to the Christian world are not using it for such.

Where is our faith? Where is our faith in the word of God like “at the mention of the name of Jesus every kneel must bowl” – Philip 2:9-11, a word like in Mathew 16:19, a word like in Luke 10:19, Luke 21:15, Mark 16:18-19, etc. What happened to “by my stripes, you were healed” – 1 Peter 2:24? Have seen the Apostles doing such? Who is our example in the word of God? Or we just want to emulate the wicked world and copy their system into to the Christian world because it is only the witch doctor that will; always gibe their followers something to wear, sleep with, drink, or eat, etc. No! Not us…. We don’t need extra luggage to be carried about. No! At the name of Jesus, we work miracles. Halleluyah!

Our Worship Is Hundred Percent Spiritual Not Physical

When it comes to the worship pattern under the New Testament or Covenant. Our worship is spiritual, not physical! Yes! Jesus said it. John 4:19-24. Let us read it together here – 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

If our worship is spiritual hundred percent then why are we bound by eating and drinking as a way to worship or receive from God or remember Christ is we say in Communion?

The Origin of the Word “Communion”

Where is the communion as word coming from? It was not Jesus who called it so, and not Moses. It was the Roman Catholic fathers that called it communion. They picked it from an explanation of Paul….a good intention to correct an error being used again to perpetrate another error… See it here – 1 Corinthians 10:15-17 (KJV) – I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

Wow! Did you see that? Paul did not send us to be eating it…No! He was explaining to us the mind of Christ about this whole eating and drinking things to remember Christ. He said in verse 17. 1 Corinthians 10:17 that – For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

He said it is a fellowship we don’t need to eat or drink something – 1 Corinthians 10:15-17 (KJV) – I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Is Communion for the Believers in Christ Jesus?

Believers in Christ Jesus has nothing to do with Communion eating and drinking but we are part of the communion with Christ and with one another as believers. ….our communion is a fellowship we have with him…..Paul explained – 1 Corinthians 10:15-17 as read above. Even Jesus said it. He cleared the air about how to eat his flesh and drink his blood. It is not one sacrament or juice no! It is a fellowship by faith….wow! I wish and pray that your eyes can be opened to this by the help of the Holy Spirit to see what I am teaching you here….glory to Jesus.

Jesus said no! Not literarily my flesh and blood I mean fellowship. Wow! Let us read from what Jesus said here – John 6:50-58 (KJV) – This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: If any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

The Jews, therefore, strove among themselves, saying, how can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you. Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.

Did you see the choice of the word He used like he that eats my flesh and drinks my blood shall live by me. He began by saying not literary bread or blood it is a spiritual one. It is by fellowship. When I am in you and you in me you have eaten my flesh and drank my blood.

Logically how can you drink coke and say it is the blood of JESUS? I think we have behaved like a fool enough. We need to wake up. Some things are not spiritually and physically logical.

Can what we eat or Drink affect our Spiritual Life?

Think about this? Jesus said what we eat and drink has nothing to do with our spiritual life – Matthew 15:16-20 (KJV) – And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies:

These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiled not a man.

So how can what you are drinking and eating have an impact on your spiritual life? Please, we have been fooled enough. Let us wake up into reality. That are many eating this communion that some has tagged as a healing tool or breakthrough tool and nothing changed about them because it is so ordinary that it cannot heal… I know of ministries where this is taken every week and over years we have a lot remained with their problems while few testimonies are recorded of those with changes. And I can tell you for sure that God did not work through the communion but through faith.

If God does work through the communion then the scripture may be considered as broken and Jesus said the scripture cannot be broken – John 10:35. The scripture emphasized the use of the name of Jesus by faith for miracles not drinking or eating something – Philippians 2:9-11 / Galatians 5:6, Mark 11:22-24, Mark 9:23, etc.

If you need healing Jesus is our health…. hallelujah. Just believe you are healed and command or speak your healing by faith as simple as that you are healed… Jesus healed us many years ago. It is not what you are drinking today or eating that will heal you. Jesus did it and finished it… as a matter of fact, we are the healed of the Lord. Halleluyah. The gospel of eating or drinking or sowing something to receive from God is a gospel that is not of God. It is not scriptural and it is anti-finished work of Christ. – 1 Peter 2: 24 – Who his own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed

Listen to me… He took our infirmities away a long time ago through His death and resurrection. What is needed to access our healing is faith in God through our Lord Jesus Christ Period. – Mathew 8: 17- That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

See this from the prophecies of Prophet Isiah – Isaiah 54:4-5 – Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. {Wounded: or, tormented} {Stripes: Heb. bruise}

Are we still together?

Conclusion

We suppose to know better today! Simply because of the Holy Spirit who is in us. He leads us into the truth. Revealing the scriptures to us… John 16:7-15. Please let us use our mind. We do not have just ordinary mind but the mind of Christ – 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) – For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
