James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
We are no more under the law but under the grace by the reason of the finished work of Christ Jesus that sets us free – Romans 10:4 (KJV) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Galatians 5:1 (KJV) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
I am glad to announce to you that by the grace given to us through the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus that lives inside of us that we are no more bound by the works of the Law.
Galatians 2:16 – Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
But under this dispensation of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, faith is the pilot of the system. We operate by faith. Everything is by faith, by faith, and by faith. For example:
By faith we walk – 2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we are walking by faith, not by seeing,
By faith we stand – 2 Corinthians 1:24 (KJV) – Not for that we have dominion over your faith but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
Romans 5:2 (KJV) – By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
By faith we become the righteousness of God – Romans 3:28 – For this reason, then, a man may get righteousness by faith without the works of the law.
Galatians 3:11- Now that no man gets righteousness by the law in the eyes of God, is clear; because the upright will be living by faith.
Galatians 3:24 – So the law has been a servant to take us to Christ so that we might have righteousness by faith.
Hebrews 10:38 – By faith we live – But the upright man will be living by his faith; and if he goes back, my soul will have no pleasure in Him. Galatians 3:11 Hebrews 10 38-29
By faith we speak – Philemon 1:6 (KJV) – That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Our Faith is a speaking faith. We must keep speaking it that is how to make it work out the better for us – Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised 😉
The work of faith
Everything we do because we believe are all works of faith. Works of faith are responsibilities of faith. They are the proof of faith that we show to God and the people around us. They are called the labor of love – Hebrews 6:10 (KJV) – For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
God rewards every of our labour of love expressed by faith towards him, His people and His works or kingdom expansion here on earth. But we are not doing it because it has rewards. We are doing all such simply because we believe in Him that He saved us, he died for us to be who we are ad He requested us to love Him with the whole of our hearts – Romans 5:8 – But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
We also should respond to that good gesture of God through Jesus to mankind by receiving that life He gave and live it. Living that life we have to worship Him, obey him and please Him that is our priority not what we shall get from him. We receive the life at salvation and doing things that allow the spread of the glory of God and advance the kingdom of God here on earth is the way to live the life.
We are doing those good works because it is a responsibility for us. God created us for good works. Hallelujah. We must do good works. And of course all our acts of worship to God are good works – Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
No wonder Paul put a curse upon himself should he by any reason stop preaching the gospel despite all the suffering he has encountered in the course of preaching the same gospel – 1 Corinthians 9:16 – For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
What? Is it up to that? To Apostle Paul, it is more than that? Salvation is a great deal! Jesus gave Himself what else can we do to honour him since we cannot die to honor him. Every man fears death. No one wants to die. No one and not myself too anyways. Our works of Faith are the way to tell God that we love him as He has requested us that in return of his good gesture to save us we can respond by love with the whole of our heart. – Matthew 22:37-38 (KJV) – Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
The word with the whole of our heart means with everything we have received from Him. Our heart has been given to us by God. We do the works of faith to show that we have faith in the first place and to appreciate His work of Salvation to us. It is the way to tell people around us we are of God. – 1 John 5:19 (KJV) – And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.
It is a proof of obedience to the law of faith – Romans 3:27 – Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. There is nothing to boast of about our salvation. It is purely by the grace of God I mean the love of God towards us even when we were still a sinner He loved us and did all to save us. To him alone be all the glory.
Here is the law of faith: It is to love and to believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the greatest work of God – 1 John 3:22-23 (KJV) – And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
It is the greatest work of God – John 6:28-29 – Then said they unto him, what shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 – Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of God that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
The work of faith includes giving. Don’t give because you are afraid of the devourer. There is no devourer anywhere. God is not a devourer. And Satan can never devour you because your life is hidden in Christ and Christ is your life as a believer in Him – Colossians 3:3-4 – For ye are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 – When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
You are complete in Him and you cannot lack anything good if only you live this life by faith and not by fear – Colossians 2:10 – And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Give because you love God. Give because the gospel in your church must expand and prosper and it needs money to get there and you are one of the people to give this money. If you discovered that your church ministry is fulfilled in their work of ministry extend the arm of love in giving to new ministries that you believe in that are genuine around you.
It is a wrong mindset to think you can only give to support the ministry in your church alone. No! You are not free to be directed by the Holy Spirit like that. Listen to me until you are led by the Holy Spirit you are not yet a Son of God – Romans 8:14. If you are under His control He can direct you to give to any ministry and any pastor or minister that are in need. He knows where your giving or service is best needed.
Be flexible and allow the Holy Spirit to make you enjoy more grace as you give as He leads you. The blessing upon the works of our faith is released if we have been led by the Holy Spirit to engage it. That is only when it can please the Lord and He will reward us. The Work of God is one. The Church of God is one. Ephesians 4:3-6 – Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Forgive people lying that God said you should give a particular amount: That is not true! God loves a cheerful giver who gives as he or she is led by the Holy Spirit – 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 – But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposed in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.
If given is against this principle it is very wrong and not according to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, The gospel of truth and grace.
Is it wrong for your pastor to request a particular amount from you in the announcement to support the work of God? The answer is NO! Is it wrong for you not to give that amount especially because you did not have it genuinely or not led by the Holy Spirit to do it? The answer is No! But I will request you to be sincere to yourself in dealing with God it will be dangerous for you financially to hide under I am not led when you don’t even know how to hear God. It can deny you prosperity. Of no doubt giving is one of the ways to prosperity – Luke 6:38
But requesting it with manipulating and intimidating manner is wrong and unscriptural and against the gospel of Christ. For example, to tell you that God said you should give $1000 is not right! The God who told him should have told you too so that when He said it there will be a confirmation or else you have different spirits.
Worship God because it is your responsibility. Because you love Him. Don’t be dancing because you want a miracle. No! God doesn’t need you to dance before he works miracles in your life. Just like you will never expect your child to dance before you give them what they need and that is their right from you as their father. Before he died for you did you dance? Or sing? Or give any amount of money? Or won a soul? Or even pray or fast?
If you want anything He said ask and it will be given. Period! Is that simple Pastor? Yes! Very simple but by faith anyways. Do not mind people complicating the gospel of Christ. – Paul said – 2 Corinthians 11:3 – But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (KJV)
It is your responsibility to service the righteousness He gave you free of charge. -2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) – For he hath made him be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
How do you service it? By living the new life that came with the righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) – Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.
It is a new life that we were given at salvation. It is our responsibility to live it. You need no one to preach to you not to lie, fornicate, do adultery, cheat on people, steal, abuse, curse people, wish people evil, those are things that are not part of the life we have received in Christ Jesus. It is an abuse of life of Christ to be found doing such things while in Christ Jesus. You are not keeping righteousness to receive from God or to make God happy primarily you are keeping yourself from all sin because you are dead to sin at salvation. It is your responsibility to keep that gift up till you see the giver face to face and present yourself as a gift to him and live with him forever at eternity. –
2 Peter 3:8-10 – But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9 – The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Verse14 – Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Paul said in Romans 6:2 that – “God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
He said it is our responsibility to stay away from sin to keep the gift of righteousness alive. Do not yield yourself to sin. We commit sin when we yielded ourselves. – Romans 6:11 – Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:13 – Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
You need no one to tell you to give generously, serve God within your God-given capacity and to live a holy lifestyle of Faith. God is Holy, a giver and even have served us with spiritual blessings, who is your father? Who are you following? Whose spirit is in you? A child that is not behaving like the father is called a bastard and cannot be you I think I am correct? Don’t wait until you are told God said you should give before you give.
Don’t wait until when you are scared with devourer before you give or serve. God loves a generous giver, a selfless server and worshipper, a spiritual one not a carnal man or person who sees giving and kingdom service as a responsibility and not for gain despite the fact that there are gains there either to the needy around you and to the fellowships around you or to a minister of the gospel around you that are in need.
Faith is a lifestyle. We must live it and it is a daily thing. It is not a tool that we shall use only when it is needed. That is why most times our faith failed us. Because it is an imperfect faith Paul was talking about in 1 Thessalonians 3:10 – Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? Perfect your faith with love Galatians 5:6 – For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availed anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love. (KJV)
Basic Bible in English put it this way – Galatians 5:6 – Because in Christ Jesus, having circumcision or not having circumcision are equally of no profit; but only faith working through love.
Live the lifestyle of faith and it works by love and if it is love it is called service to God and humanity – Galatians 3:11 – Now that no man gets righteousness by the law in the eyes of God, is clear; because The upright will be living by faith. Romans 1:17 – For in it, there is the revelation of the righteousness of God from faith to faith: as it is said in the holy Writings, The man who does righteousness will be living by his faith.
Hebrews 10:38-39 – But the upright man will be living by his faith; and if he goes back, my soul will have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of those who go back to destruction, but of those who have faith even to the salvation of the soul.
