The Anointing. What is the Anointing?

1 John 2:25-27 (KJV) – And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teaches you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is the truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Introduction

The anointing is not an oil. The anointing is not clothes, neither is an anointing a place or an object. The anointing is a person. It is a person of Christ and it is available by His life carried by his Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 10:25-27 (KJV) – For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and my anger in their destruction. And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

I want you to take note of verse 27 carefully. A lot of preachers have used it to preach about the use of anointing oil, but I am here to tell you that it was used out of context to support the use of anointing oil. That verse was not talking of an anointing oil but “the anointing”. That was a prophecy given by Prophet Isaiah. Such a prophecy was not meant for the people of that time, but unto us, they did prophesy or spoke.

1 Peter 1:9-13 (KJV) – Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us, they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

The word of God says in 1 Peter 1:12 (KJV) – Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Wow! Awesome! It was revealed to them but they were not privileged to experience it. But here we are, enjoying it. This is a big privilege for us. Glory to Jesus. Amen

The anointing is a legal right of all believers in Christ Jesus.

The anointing is a legal right of all believers in Christ Jesus. So when we talk about “anointed man of God” it is always used for people who are pastors, people who are leaders in the church fellowship, etc. But that is not for them alone. The anointing is a gift freely given to all believers. It is not what is separately used for a section of people. Every child of God is an anointed child of God. Please say to yourself for me that “I am an anointed Child of God”. Say to yourself that “I am an anointed one” Hallelujah! That is who you are!

That is why you can work miracles if you chose to do it. You can heal the sick, you have the power to overcome all satanic powers here on earth. For the fact that you have not been able to do it does not change the fact that you have the ability in Christ Jesus to do it., you just need to develop your Spirit being to be able to do., Others doing it are not better than you they have only developed their spirit to accommodate the power of God in them and you too can do the same.

Meaning of the word anointing.

The Anointing is a ritual or sacred act by which an aromatic oil is poured over a person’s head or body. The concept is a figure of the Messiah and the Christ. The origin of anointing oil in the Bible History was from a practice from shepherds.

The ancient shepherds’ pour oil on the sheep’s head to scare away from the sheep lice and other insects that could enter into the sheep’s ears and may kill the sheep. From this; anointing oil became a symbol of empowerment, blessing, and protection. Note my choice of the word it became a symbol. When one gets the real thing it will be insane to stay glued to the symbol or the shadow.

What of the word anointed? The meaning is “chosen one”. All the believers in Christ today is a chosen one. 1 Peter 2:9 (Kjv)- But you are a special people, a holy nation, priests and kings, a people given up completely to God, so that you may make clear the virtues of him who took you out of the dark into the light of heaven.

John 15:16 (KJV) – Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

The New Testament Greek word for “Anoint” which is the root word for anointing is chrio. Which means to rub or smear with oil and by implication it means to consecrate for office or religious service. Which was the primary reason it was introduced by God in the time of the Old Testament ministrations, as we shall be discussing in this teaching.

Another word is “aleipho”, which means to “anoint”. Listen to this: In the Bible times, people were anointed with oil to signify God’s call on that person’s life or blessing – Exodus 29:7; Exodus 40:9; 2 Kings 9:6; Ecclesiastes 9:8. When someone is anointed with oil, such a person is separated for a special purpose. Oil symbolizes healing from illness, cleansing from sin, and consecration as used in the Old Testament time. The Hebrew word meaning of Mashiach (Messiah) is “anointed”. Jesus Christ means the Anointed one from Greek.Jesus the Khristós”. Or “Jesus the Messiah” meaning “Jesus the Anointed”

The anointing as a word refers to separation and empowerment as explained above. See the example of Jesus here – Acts 10:38 – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

It is a promise of God to us all who are believers on His name. 1 John 1:26 – And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

Anointing is a product of Eternal Life that we have received in Christ Jesus. Truly we have the life of Christ (His Spirit) in us and that is the spirit of anointing. Glory to Jesus –

1 John 5:12 (KJV) – He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Hebrews 9:12 (KJV) – Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

John 5:26 (KJV) – For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Colossians 3:3-4 (KJV) – For ye are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory!

Jesus is our life, halleluyah! He lives in us by His Spirit -1 John 3:24 (KJV) – And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

From the above reading verses in 1 John 1:25-27. Take note of verse 25. It stated that the anointing is a promise of God through Jesus Christ to the believers us. This is a package in eternal life. If anyone believes then he is qualified to have this life or the anointing.

In verse 26 he warned us to be very careful of deceptions and misleading teachings about different subjects and doctrines. He called such people misleading the truth seducers. 1 John 2:26 (KJV) – These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

We must be very careful so that we are not seduced. This is the end time moment and a lot of things are happening as it has been written in the word of God. A lot of businessmen and women coming up daily to merchandise the gospel and deceive people for self-gain or financial gain. They are seducers and we must be very careful not to play victim to them.

Colossians 2:7-10 (KJV) – Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoils you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

What Apostle John was talking about from verse 25-27 of 1 John 2 was about anointing. He admonishes them to know that they need no other anointing for whatsoever. The one they have received is enough. Now, it also implies that anointing is not what you are laid hand on to receive. Not what you pray to receive. You need not sow the seed of money or whatever to have it. You don’t tap into it through any man or woman of God. Do not be seduced or deceived into such an act.

If any man is in Christ Jesus He is a new Creation. Halleluyah! He is anointed; glory to Jesus. He is a changed person. He is an empowered man or woman. He or she is an anointed one. He or she carries the anointing!

The word anointing is associated with two words. Separated for God and empowered through the Holy Spirit. A lot of people confused this with anointing as a verb used in the bible. There is a big difference between anointing as a subject or Noun and anointing as a verb.

In 1 John 2:27 the anointing there is a noun. 1 John 2:27 (KJV) – But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

In James 5:14. The anointing there is a verb. James 5:14 (KJV) – Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

The anointing is a gift of God

There is an anointing in every believer and this anointing is a gift of God. Hallelujah. Verse 27 of 1st John 2 says “But the anointing which ye have received of him abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him”.

The anointing you have received from Him… meaning that there is someone who gives, or distributes or anoints people with this kind of oil that we are talking about. So how does he do it? How does he anoint people? Who is this person that gives this anointing? Let us look into those questions.

Before we dive in to answer the questions let us quickly take note of some words that can help us nail this teaching properly from that same verse twenty-seven of first John chapter two that we have just read now. 1 John 2:27 (KJV)  – But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

It says the anointing that you have received lives inside of you. So someone gave it and it is permanently given. It lives….that is a continuous statement.  That same anointing teaches you all things… wow! If that is the case, then, this anointing is not an object… it is not an oil or cloth or whatever one can think. It is a person. Who is so knowledgeable, eloquent to communicate knowledge. The anointing you have received from Him.

Let us answer the questions asked earlier now. This scripture will help us to answer that.  John 14:25-26 (KJV) – These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

From the verses above I believe you can see that the name of the giver or sender of this anointing that teaches is God through Jesus and this anointing is the Holy Spirit. John 16:6-15 (KJV) – But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he comes, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

The Anointing and power

The giver of the anointing from the texts we have read in John 14:25-26 and John 16:7-14 is the Father (God) through Jesus Christ. It is the Holy Spirit that is this anointing to us. No wonder in the earthly ministry of Jesus it was recorded that He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and the power.

That is the anointing. Anointing and power are in the Holy Ghost. Acts 1:8 (KJV) – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Until a man is baptized or anointed with the Holy Spirit he can never be empowered. That was the same process Jesus went through – Luke 4:12-14 (KJV) – And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Acts 10:38 (KJV) – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Today, God through Jesus and Christ Jesus through His own Spirit have anointed everyone who believes on Him once and forever. Hebrews 9:12, 24 (KJV) – Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Anointing Oil:

This is a word you can only find in the Old Testament. It is not a word you will get in the New Testament teachings or practices. That sends a message. That means the word about anointing oil has to do with the law and not grace. If you search the Bible very well you will find out that in the Old Testament, Moses was the one who made the anointing oil – Ex 37:29 –  And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

John 1:17 (Kjv) – For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

You may want to ask me what of the one that was used when Jesus sent out the disciples? I want you to be a good student now. Following me carefully as we read through the following scriptures. In the first place anointing oil as a word was mentioned twenty times in the Bible and it was during the time of Moses. When he was building the Temple and consecrating things to be used in the Temple and when consecrating men that will serve in the Temple.

Let us read the account of the disciples to be able to answer that question – Mark 6:7-13 (KJV) – And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: But be shod with sandals, and not put on two coats. And he said unto them, in what place soever ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of Judgment, than for that city. And they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

Please take note of verse 7 to 8. They were sent by Jesus in verse seven but look at the instruction they were given by Jesus in verse eight – Mark 6:8 (KJV) – And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

That means they did not receive oil from Jesus. And they never went with the oil! Then, where did they get the oil from…? The word of God says … they were anointing people with oil and healed them… that means they must have found the oil in the houses they have entered to heal people.

I have talked about this earlier in this teaching when I was opening this teaching talking about the Greek meaning of the word anointing that the oil is an instrument of healing among other uses. In those days olive oil and other oil types are used medicinally. And also as a sweet-smelling ointment to make them look good. For example, Jesus said in Matthew 6:17, –

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face; that is like a cream there! Are we together? Now look at this verse carefully with me… Mark 6:12-13 (KJV) – And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. The apostles’ primary work was preaching as they were sent by Jesus that people should repent. But the next verse above says they cast out demons or devils. The word of God says many of them… now without the use of oil. Next was that they anointed many with oil… not with anointing oil are we together? Now when they anointed the people with oil there was no result! Check it very well. Read it again with me. Mark 6:13 (KJV) – And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

They anointed many that were sick, not those who have demons, not those who were poor, not those who were looking for husband or wife, No! But after anointing the sick people with oil what happened? Nothing! Then there after the anointing with oil, they had to heal them. How? The cast out the fever or the palsy it whatever it is out in the way they have learnt from Jesus see the way Jesus has always heal the sick

Matthew 8:14-16 (KJV) – And when Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

That was exactly what they did after the use of the oil. The oil was not what did the healing it was the authority that used in the name of Jesus. See their report to Jesus here – Luke 10:17 – And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Take note of this truth. The use of the word “anoint” in the place we read about the disciples how they anointed the sick. The “anoint” is not the same meaning as the anointing that I am talking about in this teaching. The “anoint” here is the same meaning as the one we pointed out in James 5:14-16. It is a verb. It is a doing word. It can be replaced by its synonyms. And when you check the different version of the Bible you will see that different author use different verbs not “anoint” in their versions. For example, see Basic Bible in English – Mark 6:13 (BBE) – And they sent out a number of evil spirits, and put oil on a great number who were ill, and made them well.

It will be very wrong and out of context to use that scripture about the disciples anointing people with oil to support the use of anointing oil. They did not use anointing oil but anointed people with oil and the oil is like a medicine or ointment, but the truth is that it carries no power of God. And therefore it did not heal anyone. But the power of God in the name of Jesus did the healing through the disciples. The power was with the disciples.

The Anointing Oil in Old Testament

The anointing oil was used only in the Old Testament time. Please listen to this. This anointing was made to precision. This anointing oil is a sweet-smelling oil or Holy Oil. The anointing oil in the Old Testament does not carry the power of God for it is just a symbol. It did not work any miracles but consecrated material things, objects, and people for the use of God. I will talk about that thereafter in this teaching. If you see it called anointing oil it is some versions that called it so. Some called it Holy oil and some called it sweet-smelling oil.

Let me put up two versions to drive this point home. Exodus 25:6 – Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,

And now another version. Exodus 25:6 (BBE) – Oil for the light, spices for the sweet-smelling oil, sweet perfumes for burning;

Meaning the root word in Hebrew is not rigid on the word anointing. The point I want to bring out why I have to read that verse of the scripture is that there are spices or ingredients for making anointing oil. The oil was not just prayed on to become anointing oil. As a matter of fact, prayer was not part of the ingredients. Exodus 35:8 – And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.

The Holy Anointing Oil was first made by Moses on God’s prescription or ingredients. Exodus 37:29 (KJV) – And he (Moses) made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

When you see people praying on oil and called it Holy Anointing Oil that is out of context. Out of understanding of the scripture because in the Bible history that has never been done. Let us live to the standard of the word of God. We must be careful of human doctrine and ideology being added to the ministry of the word of God this end time.

What was the work of this Anointing Oil in the Old Testament time? There are a lot of differences between these two periods as recorded in the Bible. Let me mention one or two that can help us understand this topic very well. The first is that the Old Testament is a shadow of the New Testament that was to come at that time. Colossians 2:14-17 (KJV)  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man, therefore, judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

The Old Testament contains shadow and pattern of things to come. and that was why Jesus had to come to perfect it – and moved us into a better covenant. Hebrews 8:4-5 (KJV) – For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Hebrews 10:1 (KJV) – For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Example: In the Old Testament, the building was the house of God or the Temple of God, not human beings. Exodus 34:26 (KJV) – The first of the first fruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

Deuteronomy 23:18 (KJV) – Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

No wonder that Jesus referred to that same pattern in Matthew 21:13 -And said unto them, it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Written where? Jesus has read from the Law of Moses. The Old Testament scriptures.

Glory to God through our Lord Jesus Christ because in the New Testament human beings are the Temple of the God. Or the house of God. Our body is the house of God or Temple. The dwelling place of God through His Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (KJV) – Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defiles the temple of God, he shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) – What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which is God’s.

2 Corinthians 6:16 (KJV) – And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Secondly, I want you to know that the Holy Spirit was not given to anyone to have in the Old Testament time. No one was open to the leading of the Holy Spirit other than the prophets who have the ability to hear God anyways. Meaning no one was ever baptized in the Holy Spirit as we have today. the prophets were the mediator between people and God. – John 7:37-39 (KJV) – In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Even the prophets who are used by God. Who hear from God to tell others the mind of God per time did not have the Holy Spirit resident in them. But in our time in this dispensation of the New Testament or Grace, we all as a believer have the Holy Spirit of God living in us. Halleluyah!

John 7:37-39 (KJV) – In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Galatians 4:6 – And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Days of the leading of the Holy Spirit of God

We are now in the days of the leading of the Holy Spirit of God. Out of our belly now is springing the rivers of living waters. Glory to God through Jesus Christ for fulfilling His promise to give to us His spirit.

Romans 8:14-16 (KJV) – For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

1 John 3:24 (KJV) – And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Galatians 4:6 (KJV) – And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

2 Corinthians 5:5 (KJV) – Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

We have the spirit of God indwelling in us and this makes us live a better life in a world of Spiritual freedom unlike the men of the Old Testament time. We are indeed living a better time than it was in the time of the old. Don’t you see it. Be careful how to apply things to yourself from the Bible so that you do not end up abusing yourself from the right you have in Christ Jesus that even the old-time people did not have.

Let us come back to the teaching on anointing oil. What is the implication of the differences between the New Testament and the Old Testament on this subject? Because the Holy Spirit was not given in the time of the Old Testament. The anointing oil was what works for them in the pattern and shadow of the Holy Spirit to do the work of separation and empowerment. Everything that is set apart for God was anointed by Moses with oil.

The Temple and all items in it and the men that will serve there including their clothes that they will wear we’re all anointed to consecrate them to God with the symbol of oil to invite the presence of God. So that when God smells that sweet spices He can become part of what they are doing and He is pleased.

Example. When Samuel anointed David with oil. He was consecrated or separated for God’s use, and instantly the Holy Spirit came on him. Note not in him. We have Holy Spirit not on us but in us. 1 Samuel 16:13 (KJV) – Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

But in our own days now when Jesus had come and perfected the New Covenant or Testament. We cannot be inviting God or separating people to God or concentrate people or things to God with oil after we have received the Holy Spirit. No one practiced that from the time of Jesus till the day of the revelation. It is not a new covenant or Testament practice.

That is the work of the Holy Spirit let us allow him to do it. See the case of the Apostles here … Acts 13:2-3 (KJV) – As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Faith works the wonder

Can you see that? They were not poured oil, they were prayed on to commit them to the hands of God and the use of His Spirit. Then they were sent forth for the assignment. That is how to consecrate people to God under the gospel of Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is how to dedicate a baby to God, that is how to dedicate house or whatever to God.

Allow the Holy Spirit to do His work. Jesus did not engage anointing oil in His ministry and likewise, the Apostles who took over from him and taught us the Gospel did not engage anointing oil. We have nothing to do with it under this dispensation of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

If I choose to use it for whatever purpose does it make me a sinner? The answer is No! Is it not work Miracles? The answer is No! What of the Miracles we have seen people crediting to the use of this Anointing oil? It is the Faith that works the miracle not the oil. In other words, if you have not used the oil and used your faith you would have gotten the same result.

And that explains why a lot of people under the same service and under the same ministration of the same minister using anointing oil will always have few or countable numbers of people that will return to share a testimony. Let us be sincere to ourselves. Some would have applied it for a long period of time with no result.

If we can be sincere we would have discovered that at times we engage it and it seems that it worked and other times it was not working. If the anointing oil is the worker of the miracle then everyone who uses it should have a miracle and at every time it is used. It is Faith that works not the oil. The few that do return with testimony must have knowingly or unknowingly demonstrated to God Faith in God beyond the item.

Only Faith can make a man to receive from God

Someone will like to tell me that it is not the anointing oil that works the miracle it is the Faith in the oil! That makes it worst. Number one I need to let you know that only Faith can make a man receive from God through the name of Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:6 (KJV) – For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Mark 9:23 (KJV) – Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) – For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he said. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

1 John 5:4 (KJV) – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

John 14:12-14 (KJV) – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

But the faith must be faith in God through Jesus Christ – John 14:12 (KJV)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

The emphasis here is … believing in Jesus Christ… “He that believes on me’. If you believe in him. He said….”the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”.

Can you see that? Jesus said in Mark 11:22 (KJV) – And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God. If you have faith in God then this is what will happen to you … Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) – For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he said. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

That means that those who do use things like oil, water, clothe, etc. to pray and get result are the few that have their faith on God and not the oil or whatever point of contact used. Putting your faith in the oil or any other item as a point of contact to God is very wrong and unscriptural in the context of the finished work of Christ.

The call to faith has its focus on Jesus and that is God through Jesus alone. – Mark 11:22 – And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. {Have…: or, Have the faith of God}

Then Jesus further said – For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them
. – Mark 11:23-24. Let this settle you from using stuff to access God to do something for you. It is burdensome. You have been delivered from such by Christ Jesus

His mission was to give us direct access to him and His power. Actually using things to access God is not different from idolatry. The mediator is Jesus Christ. No need of anything through which you get to God. The disciples after Jesus did not do that because the power was within them to directly engage wonders, they need no contact point from anymore. 1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Philippians 2:9-11 – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Ephesians 2:14 – For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

You cannot believe the Oil and still believe Christ. Jesus doesn’t need oil or any other item to heal, bless or help anyone. He had already healed you over two thousand years ago – 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) – Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

God doesn’t need any material thing to work through to heal people or any miracle that is the reason He died for us. See it here Philippians 4:13 (KJV) – I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV) – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

See the practical case study here – Acts 3:6-9, 12-16 (KJV) – Then Peter said, Silver and gold I have none; but such as I have, give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let him go.

But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

If the faith that is expressed in the name of Jesus alone cannot do it. Whatever you have used will not make it done. It is only faith in Him that works the wonder. The scripture cannot be broken. Colossians 2:10 (KJV) – And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

The implication of this scripture is that a believer is complete in Christ Jesus. He needs nothing to be added in the name of Jesus. Always remember that the name of Jesus Christ is enough.

The worst part of this use of stuff for accessing help from God is the people selling them. surprisingly people are buying from them. What? selling the power of God? How possible? Please do not buy the power of God. It is a lie! It is not sellable! We have never seen that in the history of the Bible. The first person to buy it got his finger burnt – Acts 8:18-22 (KJV) – And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

Saying, give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Look at the last verse above. It is gross wickedness to be selling things that will work miracles in the name of Jesus Christ. Never be a partaker of such wickedness. And can I shock you I know you will not want to take this, but it is the truth. There is no true pastor called and sent by God that will sell miracles. Never make a mistake of mistaken business pastor for a pastor called and sent by God to help and safe people. When people sell the power of God in items or in prayers most of them are maybe using evil power. Be careful.

This does not only apply to “anointing oil”, but it is also applicable to the mantle, sand, salt, water, etc. You need only faith to access God through Jesus. You need only faith to work miracles in the name of Jesus – Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) – And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Do you believe in Him?

The question is that, do you believe in Him? You need no money to access miracles in Christ Jesus it is only faith you need. Stop paying for what Christ had already paid for. Stop sowing the seed to get God’s attention. Refused to be intimidated and manipulate to make someone richer in the name of God. Stop trying to buy what you already have. Romans 8:32 (KJV) – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Listen to this: Jesus does not need anything material from you or anyone to touch your life and cause an eruption of miracle. Let your faith be on Jesus alone not any material things or stuff.
